The university city of Oxford should be familiar to everyone. Famous for its harmonious architecture, you don’t have to look far for scenic buildings here. The Pitt Rivers Museum was actually known to me as a movie set, which, in addition to the remarkable architecture inside, has a huge anthropological and archaeological collection to offer. The exhibits are so varied and numerous that I quickly realized that it would probably take days to see everything in detail. Nevertheless, the short visit was more than impressive.
On the last day of my trip, a Monday, I had to realize that many other museums in Oxford were unfortunately not open and that a visit to a venerable large library would have required early registration. So I made use of the remaining time and visited a publicly accessible university campus, which once again reminded me of a movie set or two. Inspired by old architecture, my short trip to England came to an end here and as far as left-hand traffic was concerned, after the days on the “wrong” side of the road, a certain routine had now set in and initial inhibitions were long forgotten.
